About

Singology is a vocal coaching company founded by Mark De-Lisser in 2000 to provide singing opportunities and tuition to people of all ages. The success of this first venture, and Mark’s passion for choir singing, led to the opening of the very first Singology Choir in 2004. Ever since, Singology Choirs have been growing in members and multiplying across London, and we now have nine branches opening their doors every week.

Meanwhile, Singology continues to offer regular vocal training courses. Here you'll work with the best practitioners in the industry to improve your vocal technique and performance skills.

We also deliver schools workshops nationwide with our programme "New Voices"

Meet the founder

Mark De-Lisser

Singology Founder & CEO

Singology founder Mark De-Lisser is one of the most sought after choral directors and arrangers in the industry. Having studied at both Colchester Institute and Central School of Speech and Drama, where he earned a Masters in Voice Studies, Mark went on to teach at many established institutions including The Brit School, Westminster University and the Academy of Contemporary Music.

Although some may know him for his work as a vocal coach on TV programmes such as "The Voice" and "All Together Now" to name but a few, Mark is perhaps best known for his work with choirs. He is the proud musical director of the award winning ACM Gospel Choir whom he founded back in 2008, as well as of course being the founder of Singology Community Choirs - a vision he first began way back in 2004.

Mark's arrangements are sung the world over, and his unique published series; “SING OUT!” has become the go to for choral directors and singers in search of the best modern popular choral arrangements. There are currently eight books in the series, all containing individual audio parts for each vocal section as well as sheet music for all of the carefully selected songs. Mark is also the creator of Choir Cake (www.choircake.com) which offers an innovative new way for choirs to learn and access parts. Mark’s first book “Inspire Your Choir”, which he wrote alongside fellow choral conductor Dominic Peckham, is published by Bloomsbury and available to order now. The book followed Mark’s first appearance alongside Gareth Malone on BBC’s "The Naked Choir". Mark again featured as a leading choral mentor alongside Gareth in 2016’s "The Choir." Mark's most notable achievement to date is being asked to compose/arrange "Stand By Me" for Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018 performed by The Kingdom Choir at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

A word from Mark:

“My musical story began as a child growing up in South London, where music, and choirs in particular, were always a huge part of my life. Spending much of my childhood in church, I taught myself to play piano and began leading the church youth choir at just 15 years old. Since then my love for choirs has been a lifelong affair, and I’ve been blessed with a career full of choral work and opportunities. Singology was born out of my desire to see singing bring more people together all over London. I opened the first Singology Gospel Choir in Central London back in 2004 and since then have seen my vision grow into the nine choirs we have today, spanning all over London and singing styles from all genres as well as gospel. Thanks for taking the time to see what we’re all about. Whether it's at a Singology Choir, through one of our training courses or a schools workshop, I can’t wait to meet you soon.

Love and Blessings,

MDL”
